Orkyo 1.0 is public

The first public release. A self-hosted install runs from one URL, a new workspace starts from a manufacturing or office template, and the whole application fits a phone.

Orkyo 1.0 is the first public release. The version number says that the application, the data model and the install path are stable. Orkyo Cloud and Orkyo Community ship the same application from the same code. An upgrade from any 0.27 release is a normal update with no manual step.

This note lists the changes since 0.27.0. The QR stickers from 0.27.0 are in the 0.27.0 note.

A Community install starts from one URL

Orkyo Community now runs from one address. You set the public URL, and Orkyo derives the addresses of the application, the API and the login service from it. The install has two options that are both off until you turn them on:

  • TLS: a compose profile adds Caddy, which serves HTTPS and manages the certificate. A reverse proxy in front of Orkyo is also supported.
  • Mail: Orkyo can send invitations and notifications through an SMTP server. Without mail, Orkyo writes each message to its log.

Configuration is explicit. When a required value is missing, Orkyo stops at start with a clear message. Orkyo never falls back to a default that you did not set.

A new workspace starts from a template

A fresh Community install is empty. The install offers two starter templates, and both are optional:

  • Manufacturing: rooms, people, machines and tools as resource types, with sample resources and ten criteria
  • Office: a site with rooms and the matching criteria

Orkyo applies the template once, at the first start, and records it under Settings → Presets. A template is a preset. A preset now carries the resource types and the sample resources, not only the settings. You can export your own configuration as a preset and apply it to another workspace.

Orkyo fits a phone

Every page of Orkyo works on a phone. This release completes the work:

  • The Requests page fits a phone screen.
  • Pickers open as a full-screen sheet on a phone. A long list scrolls, and the QR link picker filters by resource type.
  • Orkyo installs to the home screen of a phone as an application, with its own icon and title.
  • A floorplan upload accepts WebP, GIF and BMP images, in addition to PNG and JPEG.

Security

The login service is updated to Keycloak 26.7.5. This update closes two vulnerabilities in a library of the login service. The vulnerabilities were not reachable from the public endpoints of Orkyo, and no action is necessary after the update.

Upgrade

  • Orkyo Cloud: no action. The update is live.
  • Orkyo Community: pull the 1.0.0 images and restart. Migrations run on start. The 1.0.0 release bundle has the install guide for the one-URL setup. An existing install keeps its current configuration.
