Getting started with Orkyo

Understand Orkyo's core model and walk the setup path from an empty workspace to your first scheduled request.

Orkyo brings operational requests, facilities, and people into one planning model. You describe the work that needs to happen, the resources that can host or perform it, and Orkyo helps you place the right work on the right resources — and warns you before plans collide.

The core model in three sentences

A request is a piece of work to place onto your resources, with the criteria it requires. A resource provides capabilities — spaces, people, and tools are all resources. Criteria are the attributes you track per resource — capacity for a space, skills for a person — and the same criteria appear on requests as requirements, which is how Orkyo matches work to suitable resources.

Everything else in the product builds on this triangle: scheduling places requests onto resources over time, conflicts appear when placements violate capacity or availability, and utilization and insights show you how it all adds up.

The setup path

This is the order the product’s own guided tour walks you through (open it any time from the user menu — Take a tour). Each step builds on the previous one:

  1. Define criteria — the attributes that matter for your operation. In Settings → Criteria, create entries such as Capacity, Power supply, or Forklift license. See Criteria and capabilities.
  2. Create templates (optional) — reusable blueprints that bundle criteria, so new requests start consistent instead of blank.
  3. Organize groups — cluster resources by site, team, or function to keep large catalogs navigable.
  4. Add spaces — the rooms, areas, or zones you schedule work into, each carrying its capabilities. Upload a floorplan and draw your spaces onto it — see Model your facility with floorplans.
  5. Add people — resources with skills, working availability, and absences.
  6. Capture requests — the work that needs scheduling, with its requirements.
  7. Schedule — drag requests onto the Utilization board, or let auto-scheduling propose placements. Follow Create your first schedule end to end.
  8. Watch conflicts and insights — Orkyo surfaces overbooking, criteria mismatches, and availability clashes as they arise, and the Insights dashboard summarizes the health of your operation.
