Managing sites

Create and maintain physical sites — the containers for spaces and the unit scheduling settings are scoped to.

Administration → Sites — “Manage physical sites and locations. Each site can contain multiple spaces and serve as an organizational unit for utilization planning.” Sites are the geography of the planning model: every space belongs to one, every person has a home site, and the boards scope to one site at a time.

Creating and editing

Add Site captures Name, Address, and Description. The list shows all four columns (plus Created) with search; edit and delete per row. Deleting asks for confirmation — “Delete site … This action cannot be undone.” — so treat it as the exceptional operation it is: scheduling settings and floorplans hang off the site.

What deleting a site does to its resources

Resources are not deleted with the site. Every resource whose Home Site was the deleted one survives with its home site cleared — the spaces drawn on that site’s floorplan, the people based there, and anything else anchored to it keep their names, capabilities, groups, and existing assignments. What they lose is their site.

Give them a home again from each resource’s edit dialog (Home Site) — on Spaces, People, or the type’s own page (Custom resource types). Until you do they have no site, so plan the reassignment before deleting, not after.

What a site carries

  • Spaces and a floorplan — each site has its own floorplan image and drawn spaces (Spaces and floorplans).
  • Scheduling settings — timezone, working hours, weekends, holiday region, and availability events are configured per site (Scheduling settings). Two plants in different countries keep different calendars naturally.
  • People’s home — each person has a Home Site and an “Available for other sites” flag; cross-site placements are validated accordingly.

The site selector

The top bar’s Select site… scopes the Utilization board, floorplans, and scheduling settings to one site. Requests without a site binding are schedulable anywhere.

When to create a site

One site is right until geography genuinely differs — separate locations, separate calendars, separate floorplans. Don’t use sites for organizational grouping within one location; that’s what groups and teams are for.
