The Utilization board

Orkyo's home page — schedule work onto your resources, review utilization, and move through time on one board.

Utilization is Orkyo’s home page and its scheduling surface: “Schedule allocations and review utilization across your resources”. Everything on it is organized around one time axis that you scale and pan.

The tabs

Three tabs, and the tab list does not grow when you add a resource type:

  • Calendar — a calendar view of scheduled work for the selected site and period.
  • Stations — one timeline row per station. This is the drag-and-drop scheduling grid: place requests into a station’s row at the time they should run. A collapsible floorplan links the grid to your facility’s geometry.
  • Assets — one timeline row per asset, with its assignments and how much of its availability is consumed.

Each resource tab filters by type. A shop with mills, lathes and benches sees all three on Stations and can narrow to one; the filter remembers what you chose.

A row’s second line is the resource’s description — so a description worth reading at a glance is worth filling in.

If a tab is empty, it says which of the two reasons applies: there are no active resources at all, or none at the site you have selected.

Moving through time

Two controls in the toolbar drive every tab:

  • ScaleYear, Month, Week, Day, or Hour. Pick the resolution that matches the decision you’re making: capacity questions read best at Month/Week; placing a meeting needs Day/Hour.
  • Navigator — step backward and forward one scale-unit at a time (“Previous week”, “Next week”), or jump back with Today (Now on the hour scale). A now line marks the current moment on the grid.

When your organization has several sites, the top bar’s site selector scopes the whole board to one site.

The Requests panel

The Requests panel alongside the grid is your scheduling backlog. It searches (“Search requests…”), filters by status (All Statuses) and by scheduling state (All Requests / Unscheduled Only / Scheduled Only), and labels each row Scheduled, Unscheduled, or Container (a parent request whose children carry the schedule).

From a request’s row you can:

  • Drag it onto the grid — drop it on a resource row at the target time. A drop indicator shows the landing slot; Orkyo validates the placement and reports issues by name (see How capability matching works).
  • Schedule to… — pick the slot in a dialog instead of dragging.
  • Add child request — grow a container’s breakdown without leaving the board.

You can also start from the grid instead of the panel: click any empty cell on a resource’s row and Orkyo offers to schedule an existing unscheduled request there — already narrowed to requests that need that kind of resource — or to create a new one with the resource and time slot pre-filled. The calendar works the same way: click an empty slot to get the same chooser, with no resource pre-selected.

Auto-scheduling

The Auto-schedule unscheduled requests button hands the backlog to a solver and shows an Auto-schedule preview — proposed placements, what remains unscheduled and why — before anything is committed. Nothing changes until you apply the preview.

One run fills every resource type a request needs. A request that needs both a mill and a van gets both in one run. The tab’s type filter narrows a run: filter Stations to mills and it fills only mill slots, and the other slots keep what they hold.

Auto-scheduling is available on every tab except Calendar.

Exporting

With the board open, the top bar’s Export produces a PDF Gantt of the current view — useful for shift handovers and planning meetings.
